Smile
Design
Teeth that are naturally worn, chipped, crooked,
discoloured; have gaps due to missing teeth; or are filled with
unsightly silver-mercury or gold fillings can impair proper function
and/or detract from your smile. Smile design is totally individual
and can range from simple whitening and braces to techniques such
as implants or full mouth restoration.
Many smile designs require interdisciplinary treatment, i.e.
more than one treatment type, for example a patient may need braces
and implants; braces and veneers; gum treatment and whitening
etc. There may be many times where joint consultations with two
dentists are necessary, this is easily arranged here as the dentists
will make themselves available in order to give comprehensive
consultations.
A Smile Makeover is a treatment that is used to improve the aesthetics
of your smile this could be as glamorous as a Hollywood smile
makeover as sported by many celebrities or minor adjustments and
corrections to make your natural smile look more pleasing.
Smile design procedures include:
Dental veneers
Dental veneers or porcelain laminates are made individually like
fine pieces of jewellery. They are very thin, semi-translucent
shells for the front surfaces of your teeth that are permanently
bonded. At Aspire Dental Care we have extensive experience in
the design of smiles using dental veneers and have completed many
makeovers using them.
Veneers are one of the most aesthetic alternatives for a variety
of dental conditions involving the front teeth, including:
· Diastemas (spaces or small gaps between teeth)
· Broken or chipped teeth
· Unsightly, stained, or washed-out fillings
· Permanently stained or discoloured teeth that can't be
bleached
· Crooked teeth
Dental implants
Dental implants are a perfect solution for the replacement of
teeth that are missing, damaged beyond repair or have been knocked
out in an accident. Implants provide an artificial root for your
missing tooth upon which a restoration can be supported such as
a crown, bridge or denture.
Tooth contouring and reshaping
Tooth reshaping, or contouring, is one of few instant treatments
now available in cosmetic dentistry. Dental reshaping and contouring
is a procedure to correct crooked teeth, chipped teeth, cracked
teeth or even overlapping teeth in just one session.
The dental contouring procedure can even be a substitute for braces
under certain circumstances. A few millimetres of reduction and
a few millimetres of tooth-coloured laminate can create a beautiful
smile when performed by a cosmetic dentist, with no discomfort
to you. Tooth reshaping, or dental contouring, is commonly used
to alter the length, shape or position of your teeth.
Tooth bonding
Tooth bonding will cover any natural flaws applying a thin coating
of a plastic material on the front surface of your teeth. After
this, your dentist will apply a bonding material sculpt, colour
and shape it to provide a pleasing result. A high-intensity light
then hardens the plastic, and the surface is finely polished.
This procedure often accompanies contouring and teeth reshaping
procedures.
White fillings
Most of us have had amalgam fillings (silver) or gold filling
restorations. Metal fillings were effective, but very conspicuous
and tended to blacken in colour over time.
Composite resin dental fillings or ‘white fillings’
were created as an alternative to traditional metal dental fillings.
Tooth fillings coloured to look like a natural tooth are known
as Composite Resin Dental Fillings, are made of a plastic dental
resin. Composite Resin Dental Fillings are strong, durable, and
make for a very natural looking smile.
