Non-surgical
facelift
What is a non-surgical facelift?
As we age we lose facial fat, muscle and bone causing an aged, hollowed
out appearance. The skin's "envelope" becomes loose over
too little underlying structure leading to sagging of the skin on
the face.
In youth the widest part of the face is the cheekbones, narrowing
to the chin. With aging volume is lost under the eyes, in the cheekbones
and temples causing sagging and widening of the jawline and jowls.
In the past, treatment was surgical face lift, which sagging but
does not address volume loss, leading to a gaunt or tight appearance.
A non-surgical facelift uses a dermal filler to help both the problem
of loose skin and loss of volume.
What type of filler is used?
Juvéderm® VOLUMA® is injectable hyaluronic acid filler
that provides long-lasting restoration for facial volumes through
injection. The results are immediate, even, and very natural looking.
Juvéderm® VOLUMA® restores youthful volume to cheeks,
cheekbones, and chin that have become hollow or thin due to weight
loss or age-related facial fat loss. It can also rejuvenate the
effects of a sagging facelift.
How long will it last?
The average effect of treatment with Juvéderm® VOLUMA®
lasts up to 18 months. It may sometimes be shorter or longer depending
on: · your age · your physiology ·
your lifestyle (smoking and exposure to sun or UV rays may shorten
the effect)
· the amount injected and the practitioner’s technique.
Is the procedure painful?
There is some discomfort. The product is injected into the skin
with a very fine needle and patients are treated with a topical
aesthetic to numb the area to be injected. Depending on the injection
technique used, your practitioner will be able to offer you a local
anaesthetic so that you will not feel any discomfort during the
treatment.
Can I have the treatment and go back to work?
Yes. Some patients may experience some redness and swelling
which can be minimized with cover-up makeup.
Can something go wrong?
Following injection, you may experience redness, slight swelling,
or bruising at the injected area. Your doctor will inform you
about this. These side effects will not last and can easily be
covered up with your usual makeup.
